John Sahyoun, president of the Bulahdelah Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and a member of the radio’s steering committee, felt that Myall Coast Radio could benefit more than just residents of Tea Gardens / Hawks Nest.

“We wanted to involve Bulahdelah in this important initiative,” Sahyoun said.

The committee believed there was a future where Myall Coast Radio could serve the Lower Mid Coast region.

After applying for funds through the NSW Community Building Partnership Program, John was surprised to receive $ 15,000 for the project.

This money will be used to establish a satellite studio in Bulahdelah.

“I want to thank our local state MP Stephen Bromhead, a member of Myall Lakes, for providing funds that will help us get established.

“There is still a long way to go, but I think it will become one of the best community radio networks in the world,” Sahyoun said.

Bulahdelah studio hopes to be up and running as soon as possible in 2022.

Myall Coast Radio is a non-profit community organization and Tea Gardens-based radio station that seeks to connect the community through music, information and entertainment.

The radio offers a number of programs, including readings from News Of The Area that air Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
