LBC presenter Maajid Nawaz of Southend-on-Sea quits radio show “with immediate effect”
An Essex radio presenter will quit his national program “with immediate effect” after his contact ends.
LBC chose not to renew Maajid Nawaz’s contract following discussions with the 44-year-old, who was born and raised in Southend-on-Sea.
Mr. Nawaz, who is also the founding president of Quilliam, an anti-extremism think tank to challenge Islamic extremism, previously featured radio broadcasts every Saturday and Sunday.

LBC did not disclose the reason for the non-renewal of his contract.
In a statement, the radio said: “Maajid Nawaz’s contract with LBC is coming to an end very soon and following discussions with him, Maajid will no longer be showing any shows on LBC with immediate effect.
“We thank Maajid for his contribution to LBC and wish him good luck.”

Mr Maajid has recently been criticized by fellow presenters for his views on Covid-19 vaccinations.
Iain Dale, who also features on LBC, criticized his former colleague.
A tweet from Mr Dale read: “Enough. What we already know is that it is dangerously irresponsible to tweet this kind of deranged nonsense. What it is designed to do is to sow doubt in people’s minds.
“What’s more dangerous is not having the jabs. Since you’ve had them, why are you tweeting that garbage?”
Mr. Nawaz defended himself against those who denounced him by saying that they were “unable to respond to any of the elements or points raised”.
