Radio Station of the Year Award for Sunrise Radio – RadioToday
Sunrise Radio was announced as Radio Station of the Year 2021 at the ninth annual Asian Media Awards.
This is the fourth time Sunrise Radio has won the title at the event, which this year took place at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday, October 29.
Other winners included Bobby Friction of the BBC Asian Network who took home the award for Best Radio Show and Noreen Khan was named Radio Presenter of the Year.
Sunrise Radio Managing Director Tony Lit MBE said: “The team and I are delighted to be named WADA’s Radio Station of the Year”, it was great to attend the Asian Media Awards Last Friday it’s wonderful to have live events again. .
“The past 18 months have been difficult for all of us due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time we all had to endure a number of blockages and at Sunrise Radio we understood that the radio station would become a lifeline for many isolated people at home.
“Sunrise Radio presenters have continued to communicate and entertain our listeners, many of whom broadcast from their homes. We have also made it our mission to ensure that our public is well informed about all aspects of the pandemic and how best to stay safe and keep others safe.
“In addition, during this period, I recognized that a number of charities were struggling and, thanks to Sunrise, we supported them. There are still challenges to overcome, but by working together we can make a difference.
“The team and I would like to say a big thank you to the Asian Media Awards for putting on a great event and putting Asian media and talent in the spotlight.”
